Because you are reading this we suspect you probably already believe that pursuing computer science as a profession can lead to broad career opportunities, financial security, and job stability. But if you are not in the field you might be wondering how best to get your young student interested in this profession.
Mind the Gap
We often hear people give examples of how technology is integrated throughout their child’s classrooms but what they miss is that students get shockingly little to no exposure to the more technical aspects of computing. So while computers are accessible, computer science remains a mystery. Simply relying on our schools is not enough. We believe we should build on what our student is learning in elementary and middle school by providing additional learning opportunity in a fun, inclusive, and motivating environment.
Computing Kids offers a fun and engaging learning environment that fills this gap. We have developed enrichment classes for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. In these classes we introduce our students to the exciting world of computing by teaching them fundamental computer programming skills. Students with absolutely no previous experience find themselves designing games and mobile applications, and students with more developed skills learn by taking our advanced classes. We work hard to keep our registration fees as low as possible so that our classes are accessible to the greatest number of students possible. We also provide a limited number of scholarships.
Our dedicated instructors think creatively while preparing for classes that keep their students engaged and interested. They teach math and physics in the context of computer programming, which not only gets their students excited about their growing technology skills but also corroborates their traditional academic curricular. As parents we recognize that you want the best for your child including supporting her through the complex decision-making process of choosing a career path. With Computing Kids courses students get exposed to the remarkable power of computer science. They gain confidence and guidance, taking firm steps in a direction of a career that would serve them well in their future.
