“Kids who learn collaborative problem-solving computing skills early in their education will be equipped to become creators rather than just consumers of technology.” … Ritu Bahl, Computing Kids Founder
Our Mission
To provide high quality computer science classes that allow all children to experience learning success and become passionate, productive, and contributing members of our community.
Our Vision
Every child should have the opportunity to learn computer science. Education must evolve with today’s computing-intensive world. Along with reading, writing, and math, understanding the fundamentals of computing is critical to students today becoming well-educated, well-prepared global citizens tomorrow.
Our Impact
Since its inception Computing Kids has grown to serve dozens of schools in the Seattle area, providing high quality computing classes to thousands of elementary and middle school students. Through partnerships with Communities in Schools and Parks and Recreation’s Out of School Time, we have provided free classes to underserved students at Dearborn Park Elementary and Mercer International Middle School.
Thanks to grant funding from The Department of Early Learning and Education we provided a free 6 week “Code Your Future” summer camp to more than 80 Seattle Public middle school students over 4 years.
